Abstract

19,430. Crockatt, W., and Bromell Patents Co. Aug. 31. Portable turning-apparatus. - A device for refacing valve seats consists of an upper body a screwed to a lower body b carrying the lugs i to which are pivoted the arms having stepped outer faces to grip the work, the arms being expanded by means of a ring k pressed downwards by a nut n, a ball bearing m being interposed so that the ring will not rotate. The lower body portion b at its upper end forms a bearing for a ball bearing g, between which and a collar d on the spindle c is placed a spring h to hold the tool from inequalities in the surface of work. The tool-carrying spindle c is fed to the work by a screw e which presses on a ball bearing f above the collar.
