Ball bearings. - In the " non - adjustable " type of ball-bearing the elements of the bearings are arranged to form independent bearing- groups, each of which is capable of lateral adjustment within the bracket, or removal from the bracket as a whole. The bearing is described in connexion with the crank-axle of a cycle and, in the example shown in Fig. 1, the casing 1 is provided with end cups 6 in which are held the ball-bearing elements 8 by means of the members 7, which are screwed at 7<a> into the cups 6. The bearing-groups are held apart by a sleeve 10 upon the crank-axle, and secured in the bracket-casing by bolts 9 engaging in the members 7 and passing through elongated holes in the casing to allow of lateral adjustment. A nut 3 secures the crank 12 on the axle 2, the nut 4 adjusts the bearing-groups to the left and right along the axle, and the bolts 9 secure the whole firmly in the casing.
