Abstract

584,707. Pedal-crank axle mountings. SKEFKO BALL BEARING CO., Ltd., and KNAGGS, M. J. Dec. 4, 1944, No. 24197. [Class 136 (ii)]. [Also in Group XXXIV] A bearing assembly for a pedal cycle comprises a shaft 18 supported in an open-ended bearing tube 13 by balls 16, 17 spaced by cages 27, 28 and running in tracks' formed in the material of the shaft and tube, longitudinal movement of the shaft relatively to the tube being prevented by the balls, and longitudinal displacement of the tube 13 within the bottom bracket 12 being prevented by a guide screw 15. Grease receiving cavities are formed at the ends of the bearing member 13 by cups 31, 32 in conjunction with dust excluding annuli 29, 30. Specification 331,172, [CLass 12 (i)], is referred to.
