Ironing-machines for treating collars.-A machine for ironing and shaping Eton collars &c. comprises a form to carry the collar, and an iron or the like suitably shaped and mounted so that it can be depressed upon and moved over the collar. The form b, covered by fabric held in place by spring hoops d, supports a hollow spindle e free to rotate and supplied with gas through a pipe f. The top of the spindle is cylindrical, and fits into a socket h mounted on a forked lever t pivoted on a spindle m. The iron n, heated by gas supplied by pipes s, strides the form and has its surfaces q, r mutually inclined at an angle greater than that of the form. By operating the handle 2, the iron may be rocked so as to bring either of its surfaces q, r into action. In place of or in addition to the iron shown, heated rollers may be employed.
