15,680. B³tow, C. July 5. Screw propellers for ships, aeroplanes, toys, ventilating-fans, &c. formed with blades which when spread out flat, have substantially the form shown in Fig. 4. In the finished propeller, the prongs 3, 3, Figs. 1 and 4, are wound helically around the hub 1 in such manner that their generating-line, which at the middle of the blade, is perpendicular to the shaft, towards the ends of the propeller gradually inclines increasingly to the axis until at the extreme points of the fork it is parallel thereto. In a modified form, the middle portion is inclined to the axis, and the two end portions have a generatrix which is gradually more and more outwardly inclined to the axis. Fig. 5 shows an elevation of this form.
