Work-holders.-Relates to clamps, for securing work to the tables of drilling-machines and for like purposes, of the kind comprising a bridgepiece with a central hole or slot and projecting parts at the ends of the lower surface, and consists in the application of soft-metal additions to the projecting parts. The clamp a has at one or both ends a projecting part b provided with copper studs d and copper washers e; or one end may have cross-cuts or furrows b', the other having copper or other soft-metal studs. In a modification, the studs are replaced by dovetail strips or other insertions of copper; or copper &c. wires may be threaded through holes in the clamp, the ends being twisted together; the wires may lie in laterally-disposed grooves in the clamp. One of the projecting parts may be planed.
