Abstract

14,149. Hushes, C. M. C., and Nathan, C. June 14. Sealing-wax.-A composition for use as sealing-wax comprises a base or principal ingredient of asphalt, and a small proportion of one or more of the following subsidiary ingredients, namely, a residuum obtained from the distillation of an asphaltic or semi-asphaltic base oil, preferably one with a high melting-point and one which has been solidified by blowing or aerating, resin, white wax, and manganese dioxide. The composition may for example consist of 60 per cent of asphalt, 16 per cent of residuum, 14 per cent of resin, 5 per cent of white wax, and 5 per cent of manganese dioxide. Colouring-matter may be added.
