Centrifugal governors.-In a combined centrifugal and inertia governor, the weights are pivoted on bell-cranks F, which are carried by a bracket mounted free to rotate on the driving- shaft A, but prevented from endlong movement by a ball bearing on its under surface and a collar T above it. The bell-cranks are connected to the muff B, and transmit the governing movement of the weights. These have the major part of their mass arranged at their adjacent sides and at the circumference. A spring X in tension connects the weights, being housed in recesses therein. To drive the weights, arms S connect sliding blocks R on the weights with the collar T fast on the shaft. To limit their outward movement, each weight is provided with a hooked projection P entering a recess Q in the other weight.
