Abstract
14,023. Hillyer, G. H. June 13. Bins and the like.-A storage receptacle for bottles or other articles is so formed that an article may be removed without exposing the interior of the receptacle to the atmosphere. The receptacle, which may form part of a buffet, is divided into storage and delivery compartments 7, 8, Fig. 1, by an adjustable partition 9 extending nearly to the bottom. Both compartments are filled with water to a depth sufficient to cover all the bottles, and the water is kept cool by an icereceptacle. The bottles pass along the inclined bottom 2 into contact with a stop 4, rollers 17 mounted on brackets 14 causing them to be fed singly, and are raised in steps through the compartment 8 by a hand-operated reciprocating bar 22 carrying pairs of pivoted plates 25. During the first upward movement, the pair of plates normally received in a well 18 raise a bottle, until it engages the upper surface of the lowest of a series of resilient stops 32. This stop retains it while the bar is lowered, the plates 25 being so mounted that they are moved to be parallel with the rod 22. Finally, a bottle is deposited on the top stop and rolls into a receptacle 33, whence it may be removed after opening a lid 23.
