Ploughs.-In a pulverizing-plough, the furrow slice is broken up and discharged by a rotary hollow drum or cylinder into which it is delivered at an angle by a suitably-shaped mouldboard, the inclination of the drum being adjustable. The drum b is open at the ends, and is mounted on a shaft e set at an angle to the line of draught and supported by a bracket d, an adjustable stem g, and a bar j. The shaft c is driven by bevel-gearing m, n, with or without a clutch. Part of the drum may consist of longitudinal bars o, and a spiral flange or worm may be arranged within it. Large lumps may be discharged into a detachable casing fitted over the rear end of the drum. Some of the bars o may extend into the casing and act as beaters. The whole drum may be made with or without perforations.
