Abstract
11,131. Dehan, G. Dolne-. May 8. Sea - calming by discharging fluids. - The cover of an oil-distributing projectile is retained by spring hooks, which disengage themselves from the cover immediately after the device is projected. In the form shown, a wooden cover 10 is held on the oil receptacle 4 by means of hooks 5 and strands 8 of a cord 9 when the device is suspended by the cord 9. The apparatus is projected by hand in the manner of a sling, and the hooks 5 then spring away from the plug 10, which is floated away by the water. In a modification, the oil-receptacle is discharged from a cannon, the spring hooks being held in notches in the cover, before the discharge, by engagement with the surface of the bore.
