Bent and swivelling handles.-In a broom or other handled cleaning-appliance of the kind in which the head is so attached to the handle that it can be swivelled about an axis parallel to its own length and in which the handle is otherwise disposed than with its length in line with the length of the head, the handle extends from one end of the head and has a laterally directed portion upon which the head is pivotally supported. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the stock is provided with a longitudinal hole B<1> to receive the right-angled end A<2> of a metal fitting A<1> fixed on the end of the handle A, and is held in adjusted position by a clampscrew C. Instead of providing a hole in the stock, the bent end of the handle may be inserted into a clamping-socket or sleeve fixed on the broom head.
