Abstract

8179. Collins, J., and Penfold, J. J. April 4. Sprinklers, automatic.-Relates to a hand tool adapted to be operated by one hand for stopping an automatic sprinkler which has been accidentally started. Figs. 1 and 2 show a stopper d mounted on an arm b secured to a long handle a and adapted to be inserted in the water outlet. A serrated arm e bears upon the sprinkler arranged below the water-outlet, the two arms e, b being separated by a rod g and spring i when a sleeve h is moved to disengage a bayonet-fastening k, l. The apparatus may be modified to suit a vertically projecting outlet. Another form is shown in Fig. 5, comprising a body m secured to the water-nozzle by a bayonet-fastening and completely enclosing the nozzle and sprayer.
