Abstract
10,566. Pryor, H. A. May 1. Positive-driving bands and pulleys.-Belts or pulleys, or both, are formed with brush - like surfaces, as shown in Fig. 1. The projections may be flexible or rigid, short or long, or may be loops, or groups of assembled bristles or loops, or combs. The material carrying the projections may be of the nature of carding cloth with straight curved or bent bristles. The brush-like surface may form a lining to a belt of ordinary form. The surfaces of the belts or pulleys may be protected at the base of the bristles by a facing of metal or of woven wire. The pulley may be provided with ridges to support the belt, the intermeshing surfaces being disposed between the ridges. In a modification, the belt may be made of interlocking coils of spiral wire or the like, the surface of the pulley being similar, or the belt or surface of the pulley may be of wire gauze arranged to intermesh with a brush-like surface on the other member.
