Abstract

9104. Pugh, C. V. April 12. Welding; brazing. - Metal parts such as plates and tubular parts of cycle or like frames are secured together in the desired relative position by local welding at one or more points previous to uniting by brazing or other similar method. The welding may be effected electrically or otherwise. When welding electrically, the process may be used in which indentations are made in the work to form the welding points, or the spot welding process in which the electrodes are brought into contact with opposite sides of the metal at one or more points, disks if desired being placed between the electrode and one of the parts to be welded to concentrate the current. The molten metal or alloy &c. is then run in between the spaces to obtain the joint. If the size or number of the welds is increased, the joint may be completed by filling the interstices with solder &c. which is melted in any way.
