Walls; columns. - In a wall built of U-shaped blocks forming vertical ventilating passages, the parallel portions of the blocks form the inner and outer faces of the wall, and at the junctions of the piers, L-shaped blocks 14, Fig. 1, or flat fillers, are used. The blocks are reversed in adjacent courses, Columns are formed as shown in Fig. 4. Concrete and reinforcing-rods may be applied in the vertical passages.
