Abstract
6974. Fontana - Maste und Trõger- Ges. Nov. 25, 1910, [Convention date]. Posts. - Telescopic masts are constructed of sections having internally-threaded bases which engage with an interior threaded spindle a operated by gearing e. The lower part of the spindle a is not threaded, so that, when the sections are collapsed, only the inner one engages the threads on the spindle a. On turning the gear the engaging section is raised till the flange f engages the flange g on the next outer tube, so as to raise this in turn into engagement with the lifting - screw. An automatic catch locks the raised sections together.
