Protectors, securing.-A rubber pad D, Fig. 1, of the usual type provided with a washer C, is secured in place by a small metal cap B, which is sprung over the head of a screw A or a spike completely driven into the heel. Fig. 3 shows a modified construction, in which the cap B screws on to the head of the screw A. Fig. 2 shows another modified construction, in which the prongs of the cap are spread out by the conical head of the screw &c. A, as the cap is driven home.
