3627. Ritter, C. E. Feb. 13. Aerial machines without aerostats; arrangement of land - wheels for starting flight; propelling. - Flying- machines of the type in which the weight is sustained by propellers 11 on vertical shafts 12 have the shafts adapted to rotate alternately in opposite directions, and are driven independently from separate motors 13, which are fed under pressure from separate fuel-tanks 19. The motors and fuel-tanks are placed as low as possible. The lifting-propellers are mounted close to the upper surface of the body. A forward-driving propeller 14 is mounted in front and a rudder 6 at the rear. Landing-wheels 10 are also provided. Cars.-The car or body of the machine is of frusto-diamond cross-section, as shown in Fig. 4.
