2997. Perry, W. E. Feb. 6. Saws.-The back is hinged to the blade so that the saw may be used as a back-saw when the back is turned down over the upper edge of the blade, or as an ordinary saw when the back is turned up. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the back is formed in two parts c, d, with their meeting edges at an angle, the small part c being fixed to the blade and the long part d pivoted thereto by links e. A recess f is provided in the blade to receive the rivet g when the part d is turned down; or, as stated in the Provisional Specification, a detent may be made in the side of the back and adapted to fit within a detent or hole in the blade.
