1998. Gresham, H. E. Jan. 26. Draining when inactive.-A non-return valve a is fitted in the suction pipe b of an injector. Adjacent to and on the injector side of the valve a is a by-pass d having a non-return valve e. This closes when the injector is working, but opens out antomatically when the injector ceases working to allow the contents of the feed-pipe above the valve a to escape. A valve h closes the by-pass when it is desired to heat the feedwater, or when the water-level in the hot well is above the valve e.
