Abstract
1737. Livtschak, J. Jan. 23. Machine-rests for.-Relates to aiming-rests, for testing purposes, of the kind in which the gun is not clamped to any part of the rest, the whole of the recoil being taken by the hands of the operator, and consists in a special construction of rest which has as its object to obtain the same grouping for a series of shots as would be obtained by perfect aiming from the shoulder. A two-legged support 4 clamped to the rifle slides in an horizontal guideway 11 on a heavy stand S, and at the front abuts against adjustable stops. The gun is first accurately aimed at the target by adjusting the horizontal guideway and the stops, and then, after each shot, the gun is pushed forwards into contact with the stops whereby it is again accurately aimed. After the mean point of impact has been obtained, any inaccuracy in the adjustment of the sights can be corrected. Specifications 16,896/84 and 5638/86 are referred to.
