265. Barnes, F. W. Jan. 5. Right to Patent relinquished. Belts.-A V-belt for motor road vehicles comprises a layer a of rubber composition faced on the top and bottom with layers b, c of flat balata or other unstretchable material. The lower side of the layer a is notched, as at g, to receive the buckled part of the layer c when passing round a pulley. The layers may be united by rivets e or by stitching &c. The driving faces of the layer a may be provided with corrugations &c. to increase the grip, and holes may be bored transversely through the layer.
