Abstract

30,007. Lake, H. W., [Comins, F. B.]. Dec. 24. Moistening. - A humidifier particularly adapted for use in hospitals has unitary means for drawing air and water in opposite directions comprising a rotating paraboloid 17, 20 furnished with fan blades 18. As shown, the humidifier is suspended from a ceiling and the paraboloid is rotated by an electric motor. A conical shield 7 surrounding the fanblades supports, through bolts 8, a pan 10 contracted at its lowest portion to form a waterchamber 14 into which the lower end of the paraboloid dips. Water is supplied to the chamber 14 through passages in a plug 13, the upper portion of which forms a step bearing for the driving-shaft 16. The water traverses the sloping surfaces 20, 17, and then passes through an annular opening B in the form of a spray, any excess moisture falling on to a flaring rim 12.
