Abstract

29,907. W³lfing, J. A. von. Dec. 23. [Addition to 2682/06.] Carbohydrate - formaldehyde compounds. - Medicinal products are obtained by treatment of one molecular proportion of cane sugar, or two molecular proportions of a monose, with at least five molecular proportions of formaldehyde in aqueous solution. Suitable monoses are glucose, galactose, and fructose. With the monoses, the last traces of water may be removed and a pulverisable product obtained by mixing the solution containing the monose-formaldehyde compound with excess of a sugar such as milk sugar. In the case of the cane sugar compound, a biose may be added for removing the last traces of water.
