Abstract
29,832. Murphy, T. J. Dec. 22. Kinematograph apparatus. - In a kinematograph, the illumination is made intermittent being started when the pictures are in positior and extinguished while they are being changed The illuminating-means consists of an arc passec between rotating electrodes 3, 4 connected through brushes 5 to the main 1, 2, which is not normally sufficient to start the arc. A circuit consisting of a condenser 8 and a spark gap 9 is connected across the electrodes, the condenser being connected to the secondary 1( of an induction coil 12, of which the primary 11 is connected to the main through the contact breaker 13. This contact-breaker is operated through a cam 26 by a projection 25 on the wheel 24, which operates the intermittent-feed device. When the circuit 11 is opened, the difference of potential induced in the secondary causes the condenser to be charged; the condenser discharges across the gap 9 and the electrodes 3, 4, and, the resistance of the air between the electrodes being thus diminished, the arc passes and continues until rotation of the electrodes causes it to be ruptured. A magnet 31 serves to arch the arc.
