29,804. Delin, C. C. Feb. 2, [Convention date]. Ploughs.-A rotary coulter and one or more rotary perforating-tools mounted in the share are driven from a motor. Fig. 2 shows a plough adapted. to be propelled by the motor that drives the rotary tools, but the implement may be adapted to be drawn by animals. The front wheels 2, 3 are driven from the motor 13 through a chain 14, change-speed gearing in the box 12, a differential shaft 11, and chains 8, 7. The speed gear is controlled from the seat 17 by lever mechanism 18, 21, 22. The rear steering- wheel 4 is operated by means of a hand-wheel 25 and chain gearing 29. The ploughing- apparatus consists of a furrow wheel 33, a coulter 35, share 37, and mould board 38, and is carried by a pivoted arm 31 which may be raised or lowered by means of a lever 63. The wheel 33 and coulter 35 may be adjustable independently. Plates are removably attached to. the coulter in such a way as to form a series of teeth. Mounted in the share are tools 39 provided with conical perforating-heads 42, Fig. 3, and connected together by spur gearing 47 driven by a flexible shaft. The coulter 35 and flexible shafts are driven by chain gearing from a shaft 52 co-axial with the pivot of the carrying-arm 31. Each tool 39 rotates in a piece 40 screwed into the share 37, longitudinal movement and the entrance of soil being prevented by a nut 41 and a felt washer 49, respectively. The squared end 43 of the tool fits into a corresponding recess in a piece 45 which rotates in a bearing 46 and has the spur-wheel 47 screwed on to it. Several sets of ploughing-tools may be mounted at the back or at each side of the machine. In the latter case, they may work alternately so as to turn all the furrows slices the same way. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) states also that the rotary tools may be driven from the travelling wheels; this subject - matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
