Abstract
29,464. Anchor Fence, Ltd. Dec. 17, 1909, [Convention date]. Catches, automatic. - A catch fastening for gates comprises a plate E, Fig. 10, horizontally mounted by pins 0, O<1> on a bracket N secured to the gate-post, and having a recess S for the reception of the gate stile L. The catch is automatic in its action, the gate, when closing, pressing back the catch by means of the bevelled edge T thereof, and, when closed, returning the catch to the operative position by acting on the projection U. The slot Q in which the pin O<1> works has a notch R which, by engaging the pin, prevents the release of the catch by pressure on the gate. In Fig. 3, the catch is shown adapted for a swing gate. The distance between the two pins J, J<1> on which the catchplate E is mounted is slightly less than the distance between the slots F, F' in the catch, to prevent both ends of the catch from being moved back simultaneously, and notches H, H<1> are provided in the slots to receive the pin that for the moment is acting as the pivot, and also to prevent the gate from being opened by pressure before the catch is released.
