Apparatus. - In a machine for cutting or slicing oats, wheat, &c., comprising a series of stationary horizontal knives a, above which a hopper c with a perforated bottom b is reciprocated by an eccentric d or the like, the knives are formed on each side with a cutting-edge, preferably of chisel form, and plates e are arranged below the spaces between the knives. The plates e are carried by longitudinal bars f, and can be adjusted towards or from the knives by means of screws and nuts g.
