Abstract

25,974. Lake, W. E., [Ingersoll-Rand Co.]. Nov. 8. Conveying and elevating apparatus.-Comprises a supplementary conveyer adapted to co-operate with the conveyer of a coal - cutting machine to transfer the coal into the hutches when the parts are out of alinement. The conveyer 12 pivotally rests upon a shaft 11 so as to be capable of sliding thereon. The shaft 11 is carried by a pedestal 10, which can be adjusted to various heights upon a carriage 9 by blocks 38. The forward end of the conveyer is connected by a vertical pivot 16 to the rear end of the conveyer 6 of the mining- machine 5. The mining-machine is actuated by a motor 7, and means are provided for also driving the conveyer 12 from this motor. The motor actuates a pulley 20, which is connected by an endless cable 21 to a pulley 22 suspended from a shaft 25 on the conveyer 12 by a link 24 controlled by a spring 36. The pulley 22 carries a pinion which gears with a spur-wheel on the shaft 25, and this shaft is geared to the conveyer shaft 28 by chain and sprocket gearing. Pulleys 32, 34 are provided to keep the cable 21 in alinement with the pulleys 22, 20 when the conveyers are out of alinement.
