Abstract

25,481. Masberg, T. Nov. 2. Seals.-The button portion of ear-marks for animals is formed so that, if the stud is broken off, a second stud cannot be inserted. The button comprises a plate d bent over a plate e, and containing a spring plate f to retain the stud. A chamber h' is formed in the button, just large enough to accommodate the pointed head b of the stud a. A plate g prevents the head b from being withdrawn from the button. The marking-plate c may be curved as shown in Fig. 4, or may be curved in the opposite direction, or may be plano-convex, or double convex, so that it cannot be caught against objects when in the animal's ear.
