24,595. Hammond, J. H. Oct. 22. Protectors, construction of.-Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of half a rubber pad, which is used in conjunction with a star or other shaped metal plate 5, Fig. 2. The portions 3 of the arms of the plate support the rim 6 of the pad, and their faces may be flush with, or slightly below, the tread. The central part of the plate may be fitted with a thimble 11 to take the head of the fastening-screw. The invention is also applicable to stationary pads.
