Actuating; locking.-An oil-can or other receptacle for containing liquids, having a projecting valve or plunger rod, is provided with means for holding the valve closed and for rendering the opening through which the rod projects oil-tight when not in use. The rod B projects through a boss b<2> and has at the end a push b<3>; this push is fitted with a washer b<4> and is screwed down against the boss b<2> when not in use. Stops b<1>, b<5> are provided on the rod B. The washer b<4> may be placed at the upper end of the boss b<2>.
