Abstract

23,958. Milch, M. Oct. 17. Alternating - current induction machines.-Relates to the method of regulating the speed of induction motors described in Specification 22,863/06, in which the sliprings 1 of the induction motor are connected to a commutator machine 2, the fieldmagnet windings 5 of which are excited from a source of variable frequency, such as a frequency-converter 10. The invention consists in exciting the commutator machine 2 from the frequency-converter 10 or the like only at speeds of the induction motor approaching synchronism, thus enabling a smaller converter to be used; at other speeds, the windings 5 are excited from the armature brushes of the machine 2 through a variable star-connected auto-transformer 6 or the like. At speeds near to synchronism, the movable contacts 7 are switched over from the transformer 6 to the terminals 9 of the converter 10. The machine 2 may be provided with compensating-windings 4.
