Balkhead doors; hatches. -Relates to means for operating the latches of doors, of the type in which a number of pivoted latches c, d, e, f are operated simultaneously by means of coupling-rods g, h, j, k, links m, and a rotary member n, which is provided with an operating- handle p on each side of the door, and with a ratchet device. In order to adapt such fastenings for use with water-tight doors and hatch covers, one or more of the latches are adapted to engage with one or more inclined planes q, so as to press the door &c. against the frame or bulkhead.
