Abstract

23,425. Belliveau, P. F. D. Oct. 10. Sledges; propelling by means other than adhesion driving-wheels and racks.-A sledge, vehicle, or the like is propelled by pushers 14, Figs. 2 and 4, carried by cranks on a shaft 10 mounted in vertically movable bearings 8, and driven from the shaft 5, which is rotated by the motor. The pushers are connected by arms 15 to a crank - shaft 13 free to rotate in horizontally adjustable bearings. The shafts 10, 13, are adjusted by hand-levers so as to vary the stroke of the pushers or their engagement with the ground. The tensioning arrangement for the belts 17 connecting the shafts 5, 10, shown also in Fig. 7, consists of two pulleys 18 mounted on arms 23 pivoted to an extension 20 of the lower bearing. The arms 23 are connected by rods 25 to an extension 19 of the upper bearing. The parts 19, 20 are telescopically connected.
