Abstract

22,331. Long, O. G. Sept. 27. Linear - dimension gauges. - An external calliper gauge for measuring the diameter of round objects comprises a thin metal plate A B formed with an elongated V-shaped slot, the graduated edge of which is parallel to one of the edges of the plate. Pivoted at diagonally opposite corners of the plate are strips C, E, which are adapted to bear tangentially on the object to be gauged and enable the measurement to be read off on the graduated edge. One side of the gauge is used for objects of small diameter and the other side for larger bodies.
