Abstract

20,243. Sea Salvage Co., [Pino, G.]. Aug. 30. Submarine vessels.-Relates chiefly to means for varying the submersion of submarine boats and like vessels. A series of tubes or compartments b open to the sea contain sea water and a lighter oil such as petrol. A movable weight, shown as a bucket c filled with water, is adapted to be moved from one to the other liquid for the purpose of varying the total weight of the vessel. Other means comprise compartments l, which may be filled with compressed air or sea water, and a hollow keel m, normally acting as a petrol tank, but which may be emptied and filled with sea water. A steering-propeller 15 maybe fitted at the bow. At the surface, the propeller shaft 3 is driven by a petrol or other motor 4 coupled to a dynamo 5, which is used for charging accumulators 6. These drive the dynamo when submerged. A lifesaving device u, of the kind described in Specification 16,160/10, [Class 68 (i), Excavating earth &c.], may be fitted as shown.
