Abstract
17,037. Moore, E. E. July 18. Staff and ticket systems.-A staff magazine is arranged that the staffs are withdrawn in the same order as they are inserted, and a mechanical key lock is provided. The apparatus is of the type described in Specification 1263/89. A slot 23 is provided with an enlarged entrance end 21 and exit end 25. The staff when inserted enters a radial slot in several disks on the spindle 14. Of these, the ratchet-disks 15, 18 ensure rotation in one direction only, the disk 16 may be locked by the key lock and by a lock-piece on the spindle 61 when the indicator 60 is turned to " line clear," and the disk 17 is locked by a pawl which is removed by insertion of a staff or bv withdrawal of a staff when the indicator 60 is at " going to." A staff being withdrawn from the magazine after passing the point 24, engages the above-named disks and also another of smaller radius 19, which is locked by an armature of an electro-magnet controlled from the distant station, and is free to rotate independently of the spindle 14. Fig. 8 shows the disk 16 locked by a key-operated member 102, which may occupy three positions, namely, " locked," " free," and " train arrived." Cams on the member 102 control rocking members which lock the disks 80, 107 on the indicator spindle 61. The disk 80 locks the spindle when the indicator is at either "going to " or " coming from " and can be released either by moving the key lock to " train arrived " or by insertion of a staff. The disk 107 locks the indicator spindle in all positions when the key lock is in locked position. The key lock is preferably returned from the " train arrived " position to the " free " position by springs.
