Abstract

16,756. Tirmann, H. July 13. Dials and time-indicators. - Taximeters are provided with a series of drums 214, 220, 223 adapted to show hours and minutes. The numbers are carried on the edges of the drums, the drum 220 being perforated to show the figures on the drum underneath. The shaft driving the minute drum 214 is driven by spur and bevel gearing from the clock, and is moved intermittently each minute in a manner similar to that in which the registering-dials are actuated. The ten - minute drum 220 is mounted on a spindle passing through the hollow shaft of the drum 214, and is driven by a single-tooth transfer device. The hour drum 223 is driven from the tens drum in a similar manner. To enable the drums to be set by hand, a milled head 227 is pushed in, thereby causing a bell-crank 229 to disengage the driving-wheel 212 and bring a bevel-wheel 228 carried by the milled head into gear.
