Abstract
16,336. Goldstein, A. July 8. Fire, police, and like alarm systems.-In normally-closed metallic circuit systems in which a number of transmitting-stations T, T', T<2> are arranged in loops I, II, III in the circuit, it is arranged that, when a break occurs at a point such as Z in a loop I, the loop is short-circuited first through the high - resistance coil of the thermostatic bar S, and then through the bar at the contact 7 and a part of the coil. At a transmitting- station, the wheel N gives a ground connexion during signalling, and the code-wheel M operates the contacts m, m<1>. At the central station, the relays D, E operate the indicator lamp P, Q. The relay B is included in the normal circuit, but when signals are sent the relay F becomes unbalanced and short-circuits the relay B. If one of the grounds G; G<1>, G<2>, G<3> fails, the signals are received over the normal metallic circuit, and the magnet B is given sufficient lag not to respond to the signal impulses.
