Abstract

15,530. Fender, F. E. June 28. Wick burners, flat-flame.-A flat-flame lamp burner is provided with means for protecting the flame from draughts, and for preventing the accumulation of carbon deposits. A perforated cylinder 9 open at the top and bottom is placed between the gallery 1 and base 5. A perforated protecting-plate 12 of U-shaped cross-section is secured in the upper part of the dome, and is provided with an opening for the wick tube of sufficient size to leave a space around the tube for any carbon deposits resulting from the charring of the wick to pass through. The base 5 is made with a conical cap 7, so that any carbon deposits falling thereon are discharged through the space between the cylinder 9 and the base. In the form shown in Fig, 4, a perforated air-supply plate 19 is provided of length slightly less than the diameter of the cylinder 9.
