Abstract
15,402. McCabe, J. C., and Payton, J. E. June 27. Draw-gear tensioning-agents. - The slack occurring in the draw-gear between a locomotive and its tender, or between railway vehicles, is taken up automatically by a spring - pressed wedge C<1> secured to one of the vehicles and bearing against the drop-wedge 11 ordinarily employed. The block D is movable in the direction of the draught by an amount limited by the pin 6 moving in a slot 5. A ratchet-wheel 2 and pawl 3 maintains the tension. The tension of the spring 7 can be adjusted.
