Abstract

14,658. Soldatencow, B. Jan. 11, 1911. To obtain different effects from a single electro-magnet or solenoid A, Fig. 1, and a single electric circuit B, the circuit B is divided and includes in one branch a switch D, which permits current to pass for such duration of time as to produce a given magnetization or attraction of the core G, and in another branch a switch F which allows current to pass for a longer time so as to cause a stronger magnetization or attraction of the core than the first. The stronger magnetization may . cause the attraction of another armature l. In one arrangement, Fig. 2, the solenoid a has a movable core c and a stationary core b, and a key or switch f is arranged in the main circuit. One of the branch circuits is constituted bv a conducting bracket g, on which is pivoted a conducting lever i having a spring contact j adapted to engage with a conducting lever m, which is electrically connected with the solenoid and has a non-conducting extension m<1> pivoted to the core c. The lever i carries an insulating- piece p moving between an adjustable abutment q on the lever m and a stop r; a counterweight and returning springs t, u are also provided. The second branch circuit includes a switch z. Upon closing the switch f and opening the switch z, the core c is attracted, raising the block p and breaking the solenoid circuit; the circuit is again made by the springs t, u, and the core c thus undergoes a rapid reciprocatory movement. On closing the switch z, the core c is more strongly attracted and is stopped or held. The stationary core b may attract an armature l, which may open the switch z after the current has passed for a certain time, or may actuate any other device, such as the device for closing the switch f. Specification 14,659/10, [Class 35, Dynamoelectric generators &c.]; is referred to.
