Abstract
12,862. Fixler, E. L., and Burgess, W. May 26. Supporting and controlling arrangements for collectors.- Trolly stands for electricallypropelled vehicles are provided with means whereby, when the pole is lowered, the pole socket is automatically held in its inoperative position, and the pole released from the socket; the movable portion of the trolly stand is also mounted to rotate between two series of conical rollers. The socket part 18 is pivoted upon the plate 8, having inclined tracks for engagement with a series of conical rollers 5, 10 journaled upon shafts 11 secured to rings 7, 12. The plate 8 is formed with a bracket 49, on which is pivotally mounted a shaft 47, bent up at one end so as to carry a weight 50. This shaft carries a ring, rigidly secured to it, and formed with projections 47b, 54, 55. Mounted loosely on the shaft is a hook 46 and a cylinder 52 having projections 51 at its ends, the two parts of the cylinder being connected at the centre by a loop-piece 53. The trolly-pole 29 is held by the jaws 32, 33, and locked therein by the engagement of the hook 34 on the pole with the hook 40 pivoted at 39 to the pole-socket jaw 32. The hook 40 carries at its lower end a central hook 45 and laterally-extending plates 42 engaged by springs 44. When the weight 50 is thrown over so as to move the projections 51 and hook 46 into a vertical position, and the pole is lowered as shown in broken lines in Fig. 2, the plates 42 are pressed back, and the pole hook 34 liberated simultaneously with the engagement of the hooks 45, 46, which then hold the pole socket in its inoperative position. Fig. 8 shows the position of the hook and projections in their inoperative position.
