Abstract
12,187. Blackburn, H. May 18. Screw propellers.-Comprises improvements in the type of screw propeller for aerial machines having the blades set at an angle to the shaft greater than a right-angle. The blades are made wider at the base D than at the tip E and are made hollow and reinforced by internal ribs F. Each blade is supported on an arm A which gradually flattens towards the tip and may be tied to the opposite blade by tension bars to increase rigidity. The efficiency of the blades is increased by slightly flanging the leading edges.
