Disinfectants; emulsions, making.-A disinfectant which is capable of emulsifying mineral oils, tar, tar-oils, &c. is made by converting castor or similar oils into sulpho acids by treatment with sulphuric acid, neutralizing with alkali, and adding a borax solution of casein saturated with formaldehyde. For emulsifying oils, 3 to 5 per cent of the mixture is agitated with the oil, which thereby acquires and retains disinfecting properties and can be used for sterilizing roads &c., halls, schools, churches, &c., and for disinfecting by washing &c.
