Abstract
11,143. Meyer, H., and Klein, F., [trading as Meyer & Klein]. May 5. Chucks.-A chuck has transversely-oscillating jaws 4 loosely pivoted between rings 2, 6, the former of which is attached by a spring 3 to a fixed case 1 tending to keep the jaws always in engagement with the drill, and the latter forming a cover cap capable of rotation on the casing. The jaws have pins 10 engaging radial grooves in a plate 8 fixed to the casing, whereby on rotation of the rings and jaws the backs of the jaws are forced to roll on the inside of the casing 1 which takes the thrust. In a modification, Fig. 4, the jaws are loosely pivoted to the fixed frame, and a ring 12 is rotatably mounted to engage the rears of the jaws and cause them to rotate, the pins 10 on the jaws engaging radial slots in an annular flange 17 of the ring. The pins may be on the rotatable member engaging slots in the jaws.
