9971. Kunde, W. April 23. String-cutters. - The fixed knife a is surrounded by a tube g supported by a spring i and having a side notch k. The string is placed across the notch and the casing pressed down by it, causing the string to pass over the knife. The knife is detachably connected by a slot and pin to a nipple d in a base f, which has a guide e for the tube g. The knife may be doubleedged, and two notches may be formed in the tube.
