Vent pegs. - A vent peg for beer and other casks has a venting- valve f formed with ports f<1> in its lower portion and normally retained in its seat by gravity and the pressure of the gas within the cask acting upon its upper surface through the passage g. When liquid is drawn off from the cask, the valve rises, permitting ingress of air through the air passage c, which is disposed horizontally and passes right through the peg, being open at both ends. Venting during " working is effected by slightly unscrewing the cap c.
